  • Hope Cottage is expanding our Foster Care Services program and is hiring an experienced professional to manage foster homes and monitor children’s progress from placement through adoption or family reunification. This position is critical to ensuring children in the care of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services have safe and caring foster homes.

    Position Summary:

    The ideal candidate will be an advocate for children, foster care, and adoption. They will be self-disciplined and self-motivated to meet the needs of foster children and be a positive contribution to the Foster Care Services team. Success in this position requires strict adherence to regulations as set forth in Texas Department of Family and Protective Service Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies. This position will support the team by participating in recruitment events and foster family training as needed and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

    Minimum Education Required: Bachelor Degree in Social Work or other human service discipline from an accredited university, master’s degree preferred.

    Required Experience: At least one year of work experience in a child placing agency or CPS. Internship experience may be considered.

    Other requirements: Must have demonstrated knowledge about CPS, foster care and adoption. Must be self-directed and self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimal supervision. Should be comfortable making presentations and leading training for small groups of foster families. Must be thorough, timely and accurate in documentation of case files in accordance with licensing requirements.

    Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance and have regular access to a reliable automobile for use on agency business across a multi-county area. Travel is reimbursed at the current federal rate per mile.

    Compensation and Benefits: Hope Cottage supports work/life balance and offers three weeks paid vacation, 12 paid holidays and generous sick time benefits. The agency provides term life insurance, long term disability and covers a major portion of employee health insurance. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Internship Opportunities

Hope Cottage regularly employs interns to help support the guidance, education and services we offer to children and families in our community. Please review the opportunities below to learn more.

  • Counseling Interns adapt and practice counseling skills and techniques by conducting group and individual sessions with clients in the following programs:

    • Youth education and parenting

    • Foster care services

    • Post adoption

    • Infant adoption

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in counseling clients in a variety of settings and situations, a willingness to grow and learn through new challenges, and an ability to work well independently.

  • BSW and MSW Students Interns adapt and practice social work skills and techniques by working with case managers and program coordinators in one of these programs:

    • Youth education and parenting

    • Foster care services

    • Infant adoption

    Depending on the program, interns will assist with service planning, assessment tools, resource assistance, data entry, case management, outreach and educational activities and more. The ideal candidate will have an interest in working with children and families, a willingness to grow and learn through new challenges, and an ability to work well independently.
