Two six-figure Gifts Make History for Hope Cottage
May 04, 2008
The gifts mark the largest program and largest general operating grants received in Hope Cottage’s 90-year history.
The Rees-Jones Foundation gift is for a three-year expansion of Hope Cottage’s Foster-to-Adopt program that recruits, trains and prepares adoption-motivated families to provide a forever home to abused and neglected children in the care of the State. The Harold Simmons grant is for general operating support of Hope Cottage’s core pregnancy counseling and adoption services.
The reception event also included personal testimonials from Brett and Tiffany Carman of Highland Park who are adopting through Hope Cottage’s Foster-to-Adopt program and Serena Simmons Connelly, along with the birth family of her daughter, who adopted through Hope Cottage a few years ago.
“I was happy to share my experience as an adoptive Mom and am pleased to be in a position to support the agency and encourage others to give at whatever level they can,” said Connelly.
“We hope that these significant gifts, from foundations of this caliber, will foster greater awareness from the community to support programs like ours that find permanent homes for children,” said Rebecca Utley, CEO of Hope Cottage.
